Established in 2020, we strive to conduct research that might not otherwise happen.

This 501(c)(3) organization operates to identify, design, conduct analyze, and make available to the public research that advances our knowledge, understanding, and response to topics important and useful to our community.

Identify

It all begins with a concept. One observes ideas in history, sees patterns in the world, has experiences and develops hypotheses, etc. At Portal Research we are looking for good research projects that are a fit for us. We welcome research concepts from anyone which we will bring before our Board for consideration.

Design

Once Portal Research has commited to a research topic, the design of the project is vital to its success in terms of making a valid, fund-able, and do-able project. At Portal Research we have a volunteer Advisory Council comprised of skilled and experienced individuals who have agreed to participate in the design phase of a project.

Fund

Funding for all research projects conducted by Portal Research will come from outside public or private organizations. The Portal Research President along with the volunteer Advisory Council may be able to help in finding funding for projects. It is expected that this is one of the responsibilities of each project manager. At Portal Research we have minimal indirect cost needs enabling over 93% of most project funding to go directly to the cost of the research.

Conduct

Each project that is funded will be implemented by a research team that is formed by the Portal Research project manager. Each team has a project manager and qualified researchers who are recruited and contracted with for each project. In order to facilitate the implementation process, the Portal Research President and Advisory Council may be accessed to provide advice and counsel.

Analyze

Portal Research will always attempt conduct projects with an analysis component which leads to a broader understanding of the research work that has been completed. That analysis can be done as part of the initial research work, or may follow the research as a secondary project. Analysis will be done through reports, papers, on-line discussion, or public meetings and trainings.

Access

Portal Research endeavors to make research available and accessible to the public in three key ways: 1) For each research project a repository(ies) is identified at the start so that the project results will be maintained. 2) When appropriate, projects will have a report which analyzes and makes sense of the project findings. 3) Whenever possible each project manager will identify ways that the results can be made accessible to the public.
